On yet another grey drizzly morning in March, I find the need to cheer myself up. What better way than to report on the progress of ‘The Daffodils of Reach’. At the end of last week, we saw a few warm sunny days and the pictures here were taken on Sunday morning.
The harsh winter we’ve experienced has not only meant the daffodils are late in flowering, some are very stunted with the flower heads only just poking out of the ground! I’m wondering if the newly planted bulbs have suffered more than those already established?
The tulips are also very stunted, have no leaves and the flowers are nestled in the grass. Has anyone else had this problem I wonder?
Over the next couple of weeks, the village is going to be transformed with the 3996 daffodils still to open!
