How do you know if you need a new website? We get asked that question a lot. The answer depends on whether your website design, functionality and content are helping your customers to find you and have a great user experience.
Luckily there is a simple way to find out if you need a new website. We can carry out an inexpensive website review that will quickly show any areas that need work.
The five areas we review are:
1: Website speed
A website that works quickly is essential for Google compliance, meaning that your site is more likely to appear high up in a Google search. A website that is quick to load also creates a superior mobile experience. Even when people find your site, you will lose visitors if it takes a few seconds for your home page to load. We will test how quickly your pages load up on different devices, including mobile and tablets, and look at what needs to be improved.
2: Mobile friendly website
Google is now assuming that most people will search the internet using a mobile phone rather than a desktop computer. This means they are prioritising mobile-friendly sites in their search results. We will check what needs to be done to make your site comply with these new rules.
3: Website content
Is your content working for Google? Is it seen as readable? Quality? Expert? Unique? Does it follow the correct formatting for Google? These all help your site to appear on the first page of search results when people look for businesses like yours. We will also look at whether your content is interesting to your potential customers. For example: do they stay to read what you have to say?
4: Website user experience
A website with a good user experience will encourage people to come back and use your services again. If your website has significant problems you will lose customers. Things that frustrate customers include: lack of buy now buttons or being unable to remove things from their basket, forms to fill in and being unable to find parts of the website. We will find out whether your site works well for users. For example: is it obvious where to go and what to do? Does it fill your visitors with trust? 5: Backlinks to your website
Backlinks are incoming links to a webpage that can have an impact on how you are viewed by search engines. We will look at whether your backlinks are pulling down your search rankings. You may not have any back links at all, in which case this needs to be fixed. We can also find out what backlinks your competitors have.
