My time at Spirus is coming to an end!
After just over 2 and a half years of working at Spirus, some of you may know that I’m moving on to pastures new!
My last working day is Monday 1st Feb but after having my leaving celebrations earlier this week, it has given me time to reflect on how far myself and Spirus have come in that time.
This was my first job straight out of University, I arrived very nervous with no idea what working life was like and slightly concerned that I’d be no good at Marketing! I was also very shy and one thing working here has done is given me a lot more confidence – I know now that I am good at my job and that I can achieve the things that I put my mind to. Having supportive bosses helps as well! 😉
I would say the main highlight of working here has been the lovely clients I’ve worked with along the way – telling them that I’m leaving was really quite difficult and I realised what a great professional relationship I’ve built with them. I wish all of them the best of luck with their businesses going forward!
The main thing I’ve probably learnt is how to work with all different types of people. Within the office, we all have very different personalities, as do the clients you work with, and suppliers, and associates! As I said, I used to be extremely shy but I’m much more comfortable now going into new situations and meeting new people. For example, networking used to be completely alien and terrifying to me. I’d walk into the room of people, convince myself that they all knew each other really well, would feel like I was pushing into interesting conversations without having anything nearly as impressive to say for myself…it really would fill me with dread! Now, it’s just part of the job and something I don’t really think about doing – I’ve also got to know some faces in the networking groups Spirus are part of and it’s nice to catch up with them.
Alongside the work stuff, we’ve had some great team socials plus more-frequent-than-probably-normal champagne drinking in the office (can I say that?) and I’ve got to know everyone’s partners and families. Not to mention the events we’ve been to, creating office chair sliding contests and ALL of the cake – this office knows how to eat! Being part of the Spirus team is good fun and I highly recommend it.
I would like to thank Tania and Jo for a great ‘first job’ experience – Tom hasn’t been at Spirus as long but it’s been lovely getting to know him too and I wish good things upon the future Spirus team!
Ps. Please don’t forget me when you’re next celebrating something with a bottle!
