Talk to your staff. They are a goldmine for human interest stories that can get your business noticed. When you are copywriting for blogs you should always include content about the people behind your business. People like to hear about people, not just the services or products that you are selling. Are they raising money for a local charity by doing a daring stunt? Do they have an unusual hobby? Have they broken a world record or won an award? It doesn’t matter that the story is not about your business, the fact they work for you and that people will read about your business is good enough. Sponsorship of their efforts is always good PR – and a nice thing to do as well.
Where to start with blog research
Why not put out a company-wide email asking your employees whether they are looking for sponsorship for any charity events in which they are involved? You could even pledge to raise a certain amount for charity this year and ask employees to come up with fundraising ideas.
Often people are fundraising for charity because of personal reasons. Their stories could become interesting and heartfelt tales that give your content meaning and purpose.
A charity event will provide lots of great photo opportunities that could be used on your blog, in social media or as press releases. It also has the benefit of doing something for the community that you can feel good about. This may even aid your Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
Your employees may also be involved with other interesting events – such as amateur theatre productions, community projects and art events like Cambridge Open Studios. Get their stories out there and people will come to your website to read about them.
