SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION IN WORDPRESS
Wordpress and search engine optimisation, a match made in heaven
What's so good about WordPress?
Quite frankly here at Spirus we are head over heels in love with WordPress. wherever possible we will develop new websites with it. But why?
What is WordPress?
WordPress is a content management system, it’s free to use and installs on your web server. It comes with a handy back end editor making changes to your website easy to do. WordPress’s popularity has increased year on year and is the most popular CMS system on the market.
But why is it so popular especially with agencies? First of all, it’s so customisable and comes with tons of plugins to enhance it’s capabilities, running data driven websites, eCommerce and lots more. However, the real reason we all dig it so much is how much in love with it search engines are. It’s stripping Drupal, Joomla and Wix to the number one title because it simply codes and makes great looking websites that are optimisable.
WordPress has some great built-in tools to ensure search engines love it, such as permalinks. You as the user have total control on how your url’s show and with 2 clicks cn drop keywords into your title. IT has great plugins that allow instant 301 redirects on pages, something that if isn’t done makes a page a 404 page error. Search engines rightly don’t like 404 pages as it reduces the user experience when they land on a 404 page from their search. Yoast too is a very powerful SEO tool allowing easy editing of the meta data within the back end. Functionality is easy to plugin, such as Google analytics or Google XML site maps and that’s the beauty of wordpress, they just plugin. They don’t plugin and break or plugin and take the whole site down. WordPress has mastered it’s craft for many years and continues to improve.
In summary, WordPress all the way with us at Spirus, have a look at some of the great sites we have created using wordpress here (including this one!)
